Anil Rai Gupta Chairman & Managing Director
Anil Rai Gupta, the son of Late Shri Qimat Rai Gupta, is the current Chairman and Managing Director of Havells. He has been actively involved with the company for over 22 years, supporting his father in various capacities until he took over the reins in 2014. Mr. Gupta has been serving as the Executive Director of the company since 1992 and has played a crucial role in its growth and success.
He pursued his higher studies from Wake Forest University in North Carolina, USA, and holds an MBA in Marketing and Finance. Mr. Gupta’s innovative marketing strategies have been instrumental in transforming Havells from a family brand to a globally recognized player in the electricals and consumer durables industry. He is also an alumnus of the Shri Ram College of Commerce alumni committee in New Delhi.
Sh. Qimat Rai Gupta Founder
Late Shri Qimat Rai Gupta, born into a lower-middle-class family in undivided Punjab in 1937, was raised with traditional Indian values and teachings from the Bhagwad Gita. He ventured into the business world by establishing a small electrical goods shop in Delhi’s Bhagirath Palace in 1958. With his vision and investment, he transformed the company into a world-class manufacturing organization with various plants located around India.
In 1971, he acquired a small electrical goods company, which led to the creation of Havells. The company pioneered various trends in the FMEG (Fast Moving Electrical Goods) industry, setting the benchmark for the Indian electrical goods manufacturing industry. With over 6,500 employees, operations in 50 countries, and a net worth of USD 1.4 billion, Havells has grown to become a global brand.
Shri Qimat Rai Gupta’s partnership with a network of dealers, distributors, and retailers has helped Havells’ profits grow exponentially, benefiting all its stakeholders. He believed in the company’s social responsibility and invested in staff and transport infrastructure, improving the workers’ standard of living. Havells also set up and maintained a central kitchen that provides nutritious mid-day meals to over 50,000 school-going children every day, covering 666 government schools in the Alwar district of Rajasthan.
